The song “Mr. Dassey” by San Francisco Bay Area funk fusion band More Fatter is on SoundCloud for your listening pleasure.
“‘Mr. Dassey’ was written and inspired by the unjustified incarceration of Brendan Dassey in 2007, as portrayed and revealed in the Netflix documentary ‘Making a Murderer,'” the band said on its website. “Brendan’s conviction was overturned in August 2016, however the Wisconsin Department of Justice filed an emergency motion that has kept him in prison. This track is dedicated to Brendan and his family. We wish you courage and resilience in the ongoing appeal process.”
The band sings:
They came and stole my mind
Forged the motive that they wanted to hear.
Now I’m … going away
Justice served here on this day, so they’ll say.
They made me guilty
Corruption within so deep,
Don’t you all see we’re at their mercy.
As my life is taken now,
Endless time until that smell
Watch the killer runnin’ wild
On and on it goes
And on the topic of Dassey’s uncle, Steven Avery, a tweet from his attorney:
The case is in a holding pattern at the moment, dampening some Avery supporters’ spirits, reports USA TODAY NETWORK-Wisconsin investigative reporter John Ferak.
“It remains unclear whether the testing on nine pieces of evidence from the 2005 Teresa Halbach murder is under way, or whether the items are backlogged, which is a common occurrence at laboratories,” he reported earlier this week.
